CyberCX Academy unveils full-time All-Women Cohort

Monday, 8 July 2024

CyberCX, Australia and New Zealand’s leading provider of cyber security and cloud services, has opened applications for its first full-time CyberCX Academy all-women cohort.

The CyberCX Academy is the largest private sector commitment to addressing Australia’s chronic skills shortage in the cyber security sector.

With research from Per Capita revealing women comprise just 21 percent of the cyber security workforce, the CyberCX Academy is:

  • bringing more women into the sector, the Academy program has trained 280 associates to date, 45 percent of which are women or gender diverse people.
  • reducing barriers for those entering the cyber security industry, by offering paid training positions to those entering the sector for the first time, and those transitioning from other career paths.
  • diversifying pathways into cyber security, with almost half of CyberCX Academy associates transitioning from established careers, including policy, teaching, nursing, real estate, finance, events management and small business ownership.

This all-women cohort is open to applicants from women and gender diverse people based in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth, Hobart and Brisbane.

The cohort will commence in November 2024.

Participants in the program will be given permanent full-time contracts and will progress through the same curriculum and program activities as regular CyberCX Academy associates.

The CyberCX Academy is particularly keen to hear from women that have a passion for securing their communities, who may be studying in the field or are looking for a career change or transition.

CyberCX Academy Director Rosemary Driscoll said, “Australia needs a more diverse cyber security workforce to meet demands of industry and government, now and into the future.”

“Everyone has a role to play here, from the government, to our tertiary institutions, and the private sector.”

“The all-women cohort builds on the success of the CyberCX Academy and the positive experience of the participants in our first all-women cohort, who described the program as a supportive environment where women can learn, grow and excel in the field of cyber security.”

Applications for the CyberCX Academy all-women cohort will close at 5.00pm, Friday, 2 August 2024.
