CyberCX becomes Cyber Security partner to Collingwood Football Club
Melbourne, Australia – 04 April 2024
CyberCX has announced a partnership with the Collingwood Football Club that will see Australia’s leading cyber security organisation become the Club’s official Cyber Security partner.
At a time when the sports sector and major events face increasing threats from cyber criminals, CyberCX will play an important role in uplifting Collingwood’s cyber security defences and helping to protect the Club’s players, staff and fans.
Signing a two-year partnership, CyberCX will feature on a range of Collingwood’s digital assets, including as the official partner of the Collingwood App.
CyberCX will also run educational sessions on cyber safety for staff and players across both AFL and AFLW to improve their own personal cyber security.
CyberCX CEO John Paitaridis said “This partnership unites Australia’s leading cyber security company with the country’s largest sporting team at a time when the global sporting sector faces an increasingly hazardous cyber threat landscape.
“Together, we are reinforcing our shared commitment to helping the sports sector and our communities stay cyber safe.
“Our Cyber Intelligence Insights report on the global sporting sector reveals that the impacts of cyber incidents are wide ranging and can cause significant disruption and harm for leagues, teams and the fans.
“The CyberCX partnership with Collingwood will improve the cyber resilience at the Club and help protect and defend against cyber threats.”
Collingwood CEO Craig Kelly welcomed the new partnership.
“We’re pleased to welcome John Paitaridis and the entire CyberCX team to the Collingwood family,” Kelly said.
“With both organisations sharing a strong passion and commitment to protecting the community, I have no doubt this partnership will only strengthen our ability to do so.
“We look forward to working closely with CyberCX and are excited about what the partnership has in store.”
In February, CyberCX released a cyber insights report which assessed the cyber threat level to the global sports sector as high. The US$512 billion global sports market is viewed as a high-value target by threat actors due to its sensitivity to operational disruption, large volumes of personal information of fans and staff, and sensitive data on high-profile sports people.
The partnership with the Collingwood Football Club follows CyberCX’s critical role as the Cyber Security Partner of the Australian Open in 2024, helping Tennis Australia strengthen its digital defences and providing cyber security services to support the delivery of one of the world’s largest tennis tournaments.
