Joe Biden looks to regulate risks of AI

Melbourne, Australia – 31 October 2023

The Biden administration has introduced a sweeping new law designed to reduce the risks posed by artificial intelligence.

It requires developers of AI systems that could pose threats to US national security, the economy or public safety, share the results of tests with the government before they are released to the public.

While the new law has been welcomed by many, others have questioned whether the law can be effective without stiffling innovation in the fast-moving space.
